Perception of motorcyclists on safe riding in Kota Kinabalu

Abstract Despite the high risks reflected from annual road traffic casualties, motorcycles remain a popular mode of transport in Malaysia due to economic and ease-of-use factors. Therefore, various parties need play their roles, make proper plans take actions accommodate needs motorcyclists Malaysia. Consequently, some fundamental basis on how interact with environment other drivers was needed. For this reason, study examine assess motorcyclist perception towards safe riding regarding environments drivers’ attitude behaviour. A survey by distributing questionnaires among Kota Kinabalu, Sabah conducted analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) tools. It found that most motorcyclists, regardless demographic background, perceive poor conditions such as surface defects slippery roads highly affect motorcycling. Besides that, there no statistically significant difference between motorcyclists’ perceptions positive negative attitudes These findings also guide development any safety initiatives strategies, well future studies specifically related motorcycle concerns.
